Baikal - Ulan-Ude, Sightseeing - Buryatia

During this visit you will see the colorfully-decorated typical dwelling of theBuryat village Eastern Buryats – the "yurt". You will be welcomed by hosts dressed in traditional costume who will share traditional songs and invite you into the yurt according to the tradition of the Buryats. You will learn about the yurt's purposes and typical interior, acquainted with Buryat history, folklore, old traditions and lifestyle. You will taste traditional Buryat dishes: salamat (sour cream dish), soup with noodles, omul, pozy (dumplings filled with minced meat), green tea, and a dessert served with jam made from a berry found only in Siberia. Old Believers in TransbaikaliaThe Old Believers of Transbaikalia is a unique confessional community of "Old BelieversOld Believers` village" inside Russia, and possess their own specific elements of culture and their own group consciousness. This community was recognized in 2001 by UNESCO for preserving its heritage.
You will surely receive warm welcome and have chance to learn about with their history, culture and lifestyle. You will enjoy Russian folklore and choral singing just like it sounded in the 17th century and will participate in traditional customs and games. KyakhtaWe invite you to visit the old merchants` town - Kyakhta. The foundation of the city was paralleled by a treaty, one of the first between China and a Western nation, named the Treaty of Kyakhta, which established trade agreements and defined the border between Siberia and the Qing Empire (China) territories of Mongolia and Manchuria. As a result of this agreement, Kyakhta was an exclusive trading point one of the famous Great Tea Road.
Kyakhta today is an important transit point for trade between Russia and Mongolia.

We offer you to take an amazing tour to the fortress of Merkits (one of the oldest tribes of this region). This fortress in the shape of a rocky massif is located on the right bank of the mouth of the Tugnuy River. This natural rock was used by the Merkits to protect Tugnuy valley from Mongolian tribes. According to historical data this is the fortress where in 1176, Chingis Khan`s first battle took place. Among other archeological sites such as stone graves and petroglyphs, there is a fortified area called Shara-Tepseg on the steep rock ledge. One can get there by a trail that is lined with massive stone borders in tricky places. There is a secret hidden well in the center of the fortress.
