Discover the legend of an old hunter, which drove a wounded deer many years ago and found the natural miracle of the Sayan Mountains - the Shumak mineral springs. They have been famous for many years for their wonderful curative qualities. More than one hundred springs with different mineral structures emerge on the surface at the junction of the right and left Shumak Rivers. Moreover you will see the pristine beauty of the Tunkinsky National Park.
1st day: Irkutsk
Arrival in Irkutsk. Transfer to hotel. After having settled in and breakfast guided city tour. Visit to the Local Lore Museum of Irkutsk. Free time. (L,D)
2nd day: Irkutsk - health resort of Nilova Pustyn - Khubuty River
After breakfast drive to the starting point of the Shumak trail (400 km), the village of Nilova Pustin. An easy trekking (4 km). Set up camp overnight near the river Khubuty. (B,L,D)
3rd day: Khubuty River - Khubuty lakes - Ekhe-Ger River
Trek past the post-glacial lakes of Khubuty to the watershed area of the Ekhe-Ger River (15 km). Accommodation in tents. (B,L,D)
4th day: Ekhe-Ger River - Shumak Pass - Shumak waterfall
Enter the rocky Eastern Sayan mountain range and pass through alpine meadows to cross the Shumak Pass (2,850 m). Camp by the spectacular 40 meter Shumak waterfall (about 20 km). Accommodation in tents. (B,L,D)
5th day: Shumak waterfall - Shumak mineral springs
Trek to the renowned Shumak mineral water springs to bathe, relax and generally enjoy this beautiful valley. You will be told many legends and we are confident that Shumak will always have a place in your heart. Opportunity to try the mineral baths. Free time to explore. Accommodation in tents or in hunter lodge. (B,L,D)
6th - 7thday: Shumak mineral springs
Stroll down to the Shumak River to visit the sacred site "Khukhan-Khada" (5 km). Return to the base camp. Accommodation in tents. (B,L,D)
8th - 10th days: Shumak mineral springs - Shumak waterfall - Shumak Pass - Ekhe-Ger River - Khubuty lakes - Khubuty River - health resort of Nilova Pustyn
Trek back from Shumak springs to the Nilova Pustyn village (42 km). (B,L,D)
10th day: Health resort of Nilova Pustyn - Ulan-Ude
After breakfast drive to Ulan-Ude (500 km). Accommodation at hotel. Free time. (B,L,D)
11th day: Ulan-Ude - Ivolginsky Datsan - Buryat Village - Ulan-Ude
After breakfast a guided tour of the city. Visit to the History Museum. Excursion to the Ivolginsky Datsan, the most important Buddhist temple in Russia (40 km from Ulan-Ude). Visit to the Buryat village to enjoy folklore entertainment and traditional Buryat dinner. Return to the hotel. (B,L,D)
12th day:
Transfer to airport.(B)
